Dear Parents and Guardians,

Get Ready for Our School Expo!

I’m incredibly excited to invite you to our Columba Catholic Primary School Expo next Tuesday, 21st October, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. This is a wonderful, all-welcome community event and a fantastic chance to celebrate everything that makes our school so special.

The core purpose of our School Expo is to showcase the learning happening in every corner of Columba. Our belief is that we all work together—students, staff, and parents—to ensure all students are able to let their light shine. The Expo is a unique opportunity for our students to let their light shine even brighter by sharing some of the incredible work and activities that take place in the school every day with the wider community. There will be displays, fun activities, an inflatable play space sposored by DSSPORTS, Damper Making, a Sausage Sizzle, and the Dip n Dots Van to enjoy, a Pokemon hunt and so much more!!

While we are currently at capacity with our student numbers outside of our grade 2 classroom, due in part to ongoing restrictions related to our building development, this event is still a powerful way to promote our school as the best place to educate your child in Bunyip! You, our parents, are truly our best promoters.

I want to extend my gratitude for your unwavering support and the kind words of encouragement you share with families who may not currently attend Columba. We consistently receive glowing feedback from families not yet enrolled, and that is a direct result of your positive word-of-mouth. This is true for everyone, even those families and children who may have had their ups and downs with us. It is absolutely amazing that through mutual respect, understanding, and a shared commitment to improvement, we are all collectively creating a formidable education environment for the young people of Bunyip.

Please mark your calendars, come along, and join us to celebrate Columba next Tuesday evening. It will be a fantastic community gathering!

We can't wait to see you there.

Important Staffing Update for 2026

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departures of two valued members of our teaching staff, Katelyn Sigar and Caz Websdale, at the conclusion of 2025.

Katelyn Sigar will be leaving us to take up a new role at St. Ambrose Primary School in Woodend. Katelyn is regretfully moving for family reasons. We will very much miss Katelyn; she has grown into an outstanding educator with Columba being her first school. She has held various leadership positions during her time here, none more important than her current Learning Adjustment role, in which she has provided invaluable support to both students and teachers, helping to ensure we create the best possible learning environments for all.

Caz Websdale will also be moving on to work closer to home, having secured a classroom teacher position at St. Michael's Primary School in Berwick. Our loss will certainly be their gain, as Caz brings a wealth of experience through the door at Berwick.

We understand that staff changes can be significant, and we are already well underway with the recruitment process to find wonderful educators to fill these vital roles for 2026.

We will take the opportunity to celebrate Katelyn and Caz and their significant contributions to the Columba community as the year draws to a close. For now, I know you will all join me in wishing both Katelyn and Caz the very best with their future ventures and thank them for their dedication to our students.

Take Care
