LITURGICAL CALENDAR
So why are Chistmas and Easter a big deal for Catholics?
The Catholic Church year, called the liturgical calendar, is a cycle of six seasons that helps focus worship and spiritual life on different aspects of Jesus' life and teachings.
For non-Catholic parents, you can think of it as a set of recurring themes and holidays that determine what your child is learning about in Religious Education, what the church decorations look like, and the color the priest wears.
The Six Liturgical Seasons
The church year begins in late November/early December and is structured around two major celebrations: Christmas and Easter.
